Out of the mountains at last! All it took was one more big climb, this time up to 10,200 feet. Since the climb began at over 8,000 feet, I was quickly in snow territory. I knew that it was going to rain, so I had my bar mitts, shoe covers, and all of that. I tried to buy a beanie again at a gas station, but none of them are selling them. It is absurd. They say that they put out the baseball caps for the summer, but I believe that if it is going to be 49 degrees and rainy in June, warmer hats should be in supply. The one thing I forgot to pack…
I stayed warm and dry for the climb, but the descent put me in the rain. It was a good day because it was about 70 miles of all downhill. My feet were soaked, my Orioles hat (in lieu of a beanie) got dirty, and it was just wet and cold all day. But I can’t complain about 70 miles of downhill.
The mountains are all behind us, and now I’m just juggling a whole bunch of laundry since so many clothes got wet the last few days, plus I had to give the bike a shower. It is 9:28 pm, and I haven’t had a chance to sit down and relax yet. It’s for good though! Just hoping for better weather, because there is a good chance of rain tomorrow as well. It can never be easy. The wind forecast isn’t too promising, but it’s not 20 mph against me, so again, no complaining. I’m going to jinx everything.
Haven’t had a flat since the day I left Vegas. I’m knocking on wood as I type, please do the same.
509 miles in 5 days and this leg is over!
We are in such a distressing hotel room tonight. It is so big and I have to go up and down the stairs a hundred times, and it’s located right on the highway so it is difficult to get anywhere….
Just getting a little frustrated with so many different minor things, but everything is good overall. We’re going to give the gift of hearing from all of this!
