6/18/15 Rain and a new driver

It’s my last night with my sister! I only rode 80 miles today, but after 11 days of riding, I keep on trying to weasel out of my last miles. I am blessed to have the day off tomorrow. With the drivers switching there is a big gap during the day, and I will be seeing a looped performance of South Pacific in Lawrence tomorrow. I am looking forward to it all.

Since I won't be busy riding, I will keep myself busy doing laundry and bike cleaning while waiting for Mike’s flight in. We are going to have to have an early morning on Saturday, because we have to drive about an hour and a half away from the airport to get to the ride’s starting point, and then ride the last 85-90 miles to Kansas City. I will ride directly to Boulevard Theater, an open-captioned drive in movie night. I had an amazing time there two years ago, and am looking forward to seeing the familiar faces.

Good weather is coming as well; I got absolutely poured on twice today. Right after the bike got maintenance yesterday, too. The factory lube that comes on a new chain is usually nice for more than 500 miles, but it all got washed off today. I’m not going to bother with cleaning the frame or anything this time, just degrease and lube the chain before Saturday. I’ll have about 6 hours off tomorrow to do everything. I’m thinking about taking the van to a car wash and getting it vacuumed. It hasn’t been cleaned yet.

I’m taking a nap before dinner tonight!
