It’s been good to be off of the bike for a few days! After watching the Orioles’ defeat yesterday, not much really happened. We went back home, took a nap, and just hung around. I played catch (ball and glove) and Frisbee with Grayson and Autumn for probably three hours before dinner. We had dinner, and played with some sparklers with the children before their bedtime. We had a firepit and s’mores in the backyard.
Today was a lazy Sunday, slept in until 6:50. Mary, the children, and I went to Whitney St. Diner for breakfast, the first time I’ve eaten out since Thursday. I had to leave around 1:00 to get to Amy’s for an interview with Brandon Cruz from FOX. Got a flat tire in the car! Thankfully, Jack and Mary were on their way to Amy’s as well and were able to make it relatively seamless to get to Amy’s in time for the interview. My flat happened in a construction zone, and the lugnuts were way too tight to be taken off without an impact wrench. So the state transported the CRV to a park and ride, since it was in a construction zone.
Mary took me to Amy’s while Jack stayed behind to find a tire place to get the CRV fixed. I thought that I would take care of that tomorrow, but Jack really stepped up. On top of getting the tire replaced, he also paid for the new tire himself! Talk about saving the day!
The interview with Cruz went really well I thought. We got a lot of footage of me riding my bike with the Advanced Bionics jersey, and with a whole bunch of kids. Brandon Cruz has been covering Jacob’s Ride for a long time now, and it’s really appreciated. I’m going to meet a lot of implanted children tomorrow at the same center I went to two years ago.
