That is the absolute best news!!!

Thank you so much to every last person who has played a part in making this DREAM come true 26 years later!  I am so excited and anxious for the surgery date and cannot wait to start this journey! What I thought would never happen in my lifetime, what I had given up on years ago, has finally come to fruition and it is all because of your foundation and the many other people who make it all work out. It's amazing what some people will do to change the life of someone they've never met! I am forever grateful and indebted to Jacob’s Ride for Hearing and will make sure that this foundation charity gets the credit and recognition it deserves in any way I possibly can!

Thank you so much!!!

So, I did the next best thing. I wrote a little summary of what was going on and why insurance decided to not cover the implant at all. I had an amazing woman reach back out to me. She just happened to be on her computer at the time when I sent her the email with my story. I thought “what a relief”, someone will listen to me. I started explaining what was going on and she started asking more questions. Come to find out it was the Executive Director of Hearing Loss Assn of America (HLAA) Barbara Kelley. What an amazing woman! She did not have to get as invested as she got, but she did, and it changed my life. It was a huge weight lifted off my shoulder just to know that somebody was listening to me.She helped guide me in some ways. Different things to do, people to reach out to. One day she told me to reach out to Jacob’s Ride for Hearing, a nonprofit organization that helps others pay for “the gift of hearing.” I researched them and what an amazing story. This family has been through so much. Jacob Landis, now a young man, went through this AMAZING journey with his own hearing loss and now he is helping others. What he and his family are doing to help others like myself is just unexplainable!

I emailed Randy Landis, Jacob’s father, and explained a little bit of the situation. He also started to get more invested and asking questions. I explained my situation, again, in hopes just to be heard. I never expected anything from it. I just wanted to be heard.

I agreed to share my medical records with him. Randy saw how dire it was for me to get this hearing implant. He jumped into action and called a board meeting to explain my situation. Randy advised me the day before Thanksgiving that they were going to fund my hearing implant procedure along with the device.

My family and I just cried.
